The Golden Rules of Stain Removal

What you do in the first 5 minutes matters more than what we do later. Follow these until we arrive.

Blot, Don't Rub

Rubbing pushes the stain deeper into the fibre and frays the pile. Blot with a clean white cloth to lift the liquid up.

Cold Water for Protein

Blood, vomit and egg are protein stains. Hot water cooks the protein into the fibre — always use cold water first.

Work from the Edge In

Always work from the outside of the stain inward. Working outward spreads the stain into clean fabric.

No Bleach, No Scrubbing

Bleach strips colour from fabric and cracks leather. Scrubbing damages the weave. Both make the stain permanent.

The Process

How We Remove a Stain

1 · Identify

We identify the stain type and the fabric care code. The right treatment depends on both — a coffee stain on velvet is different from coffee on leather.

2 · Pre-Treat

A stain-specific pre-treatment breaks the bond between the stain and the fibre. We match the chemistry to the stain — tannin, protein, oil or dye.

3 · Extract

Hot-water extraction flushes the broken-down stain out of the fibre. The stain leaves the sofa — it doesn't just move deeper.

4 · Rinse & Protect

A neutralising rinse stops chemical residue. Optional stain guard seals the fabric against the next spill.
