Check the Tag Under Your Cushion

Every fabric sofa carries a care code on a small tag sewn under a cushion or along the base. That single letter tells you — and us — exactly what is safe. Before we touch your sofa, we identify the code and choose the method to match.

WWater-based

Safe to clean with water-based solutions. We use hot-water extraction — the most thorough method for W-coded fabrics.

SSolvent-based

Dry-cleaning solvent only — no water. We use a low-moisture solvent method to avoid water marks and shrinkage.

WSWater or Solvent

Both water-based and solvent-based cleaners are safe. We choose the method based on fabric condition and soiling.

XProfessional only

No water or solvent — vacuum only, or have a professional handle it. We assess and advise on the safest approach.

The Method

Hot-Water Extraction, Done Right

For W-coded and WS-coded fabrics — the majority of fabric sofas in Singapore — we use hot-water extraction. A heated cleaning solution is injected deep into the fabric under controlled pressure, then immediately pulled back out along with the dissolved dirt, body oils and allergens. Because the dirty water is extracted rather than left to soak in, the fabric is left damp, not wet.

For heavily soiled areas we follow with a low-residue shampoo and encapsulation step: the shampoo lifts the grime, and the encapsulating polymer crystallises it so it is removed with the extraction pass rather than re-settling into the fabric.

In Singapore's humidity, drying is the part that matters most. We finish with powerful extraction to remove as much moisture as possible, then advise keeping a fan on the sofa. Most fabric sofas are dry to the touch in 4–6 hours; thicker cushions may take up to 8. The result is a genuinely clean sofa — not a surface wipe, and not a soaking that risks water marks or shrinkage.

Controlled moisture matched to your fabric code — no over-wetting.

4–6 hour drying with a fan, even in Singapore humidity.

No water marks or shrinkage — the method fits the fabric.

By Fabric Type

How We Clean Each Fabric

Different fabrics need different care. Here is what we do for the most common fabric sofas in Singapore homes.

LinenDelicate natural fibre, prone to water marks and shrinkage. Low-moisture extraction with a pH-neutral solution — never over-wet.
Cotton blendCommon and durable. Hot-water extraction is safe and effective for everyday soiling.
PolyesterSynthetic, colourfast and water-tolerant. Hot-water extraction and steam handle it well.
ChenilleSoft raised pile, sensitive to over-wetting which flattens the pile. Controlled moisture and careful extraction.
VelvetDirectional pile that marks easily. Gentle low-moisture clean, then brushed to restore the pile direction.
